Baby and toddler groups in church halls, community centres and village halls: the drop-in mornings every new parent is told to find, and the hardest to find online. Pick a day, put in your postcode and see what’s on.

Before you go: many groups run in term time only and some take a break over the summer. Times here are what each group publishes on its own page, so check it the night before, especially in the school holidays.

Why go to a toddler group

  • Meet parents nearby

The people at your local toddler group live round the corner — the ones you'll see at the park, the school gate and the GP.

  • Come as you are

Turn up with the baby in whatever state the morning left you. Most need no booking and no kit.

  • A cup of tea someone else made

Most run on volunteers, a donation tin and a kettle. Usually a pound or two, sometimes free.
