Edinburgh's Hogmanay
Edinburgh's multi-day New Year festival, best known for the fire-lit Torchlight Procession on 29 December and the Street Party on Hogmanay itself. The procession involves a genuinely large, loud, late-evening crowd so suits older children; New Year's Day's free First Footin' trail of music around the Old Town is a gentler, family-friendlier option.
